America’s Must-See RV Camping Spots

Updated: Dec 12, 2022

Owning an RV is a great investment. You can visit every state, Canada, Mexico, and beyond without leaving your creature comforts at home.

The investment for a recreational vehicle can be high upfront, but it pays for itself within a few trips when you count how many hotels you’ve avoided and how many miles you didn’t put on the family car.

Looking for the perfect summer road trip with the family or spring getaway? We’ve got some of the best RV-friendly campsites in all corners of the United States. Plan a cross-country trip — you won’t regret it!

West Glacier KOA, Glacier National Park, Montana

We love Glacier National Park, and it’s so easy to see it at West Glacier KOA! If you’ve never been to our beloved Montana, this is where we recommend you start.

You can stay in your RV or head to a tent campsite or cabins at this great site with the most beautiful views. The West Glacier site is just 2 miles from the park for an easy hike or quick drive to an amazing National Park in our backyard.

Back-in and pull-through spots are available for all levels of RV professionals plus a convenience store, espresso bar, ice cream shop, and basketball court so you never have to leave except for tech-free hikes.

River’s Edge RV Park, Fairbanks, Alaska

Head to the north for this Alaskan campsite! River’s Edge Resort RV Park is a great way to see the beauty of Alaska without a very long flight or a glacier cruise.

Because of the harsh weather in Alaska, this campground is only open from May through September, but it’s a great summer road trip stop!

Acclaimed as one of Alaska’s premier RV Parks, River’s Edge features 167 sites, wide pull-throughs, and full and basic hook-ups.

Buckhorn Lake Resort, Kerrville, Texas

Perfectly located in the Heart of the Texas Hill Country, you will find everything you would expect from a premier RV Resort at Buckhorn Lake Resort.

An hour outside San Antonio, every RV site features complete landscaping, full hookups, and concrete pads. It’s right off Interstate 10 for an ideal stopping point between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.

Angel Fire RV Resort, Angel Fire, New Mexico

If glamping is your goal, Angel Fire RV Resort is calling your name.

Angel Fire is a quaint, mountain village nestled in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of Northern New Mexico. Break out of the RV and use the resort’s luxurious showers, ski at the nearby mountains, or get a massage from the on-site massage therapist.

One of the great amenities of this RV park is a pickleball court plus a putting green, 2 fire pits, and a dog park.

In a caravan? Angel Fire has you covered! They’ve got 3 Buddy sites that allow everyone to hang out in the same area for the multi-family road trip for the ages.

Hilton Head Harbor RV Resort and Marina, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina

So many people hop in the RV and head west, but there’s so much to see on the East Coast, too! Hilton Head Harbor RV Resort gives you the best of a beach vacation while bringing the condo with you.

Hilton Head Harbor is a luxury RV Resort and Marina located on the north end of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. This waterside, pet friendly resort offers landscaped sites with concrete pads, excellent dining, top-notch amenities, on-site water sports activities and more.

Bring your boat or rent a jetski for the summer RV trip your family will never forget.

Durango RV Resort, Red Bluff, California

If you want a remote California vacation with all the amenities, Durango RV Resort is the spot for you!

This Northern California RV site on the Sacramento River has everything: pool, hot tub, lodge, massages, on-site tennis courts, basketball court, and a gym. The best part: easy pull-through spots, so no backing up!

Some of the reviews even mention the fast WiFi and clear cable for a great work-from-the-road location for the whole family.
